Is Getting a Second Dog The Answer?

We have had quite a year with our Goldendoodle. Graci just turned a year in November so we know she still has a lot of puppy in her. She is slowly getting better, but the nipping/biting still remains. Most Goldendoodle owners that I know of have said their doodle's nipping stopped when they were done teething. Graci, unfortunately has not.

From a previous entry on the forum someone pointed out that we got her too early (at 5 weeks old) so her siblings and mother weren't able to put her in her place with the nipping.

She wants to play with us and we want to as well, but she is not enjoyable because of the biting. She wants a playmate and although we try, we are tired of getting bit. Do you think we should get a playmate for her? She is left alone all day due to my husband and myself working (we work too far away to come home at lunch to play with her), then I come home and give her a long walk. The walk actually seems to make her more hyper because after the walk she runs around the house all crazy and tries to bite you to play. We do not have any dogs around us for her to play with and we are not able to go to the dog park until the weekend (due to it getting dark so much earlier in the evenings).

I thought that maybe having a second dog would keep her company and have a buddy to play with. We will still play ball and other fun activities with her, but the rough play can be done with the other dog. We know that she has separatation issues while we are gone, so having a buddy may help get through the day. Please note that the reason why we want a second dog is to make Graci happy.

Any thoughts on this?
